What is Yoga?

Yoga is the oldest holistic practice for well-being. The practice originated in India and is found to have existed as far back as 3000 BC. The word “yoga” means to unite or join, implying that this system of practice involves integrating every aspect of our being. Yoga is not only about maintaining the body, mind and spirit; it is also a process of self-discovery and exploration beyond what we think we already know. Ultimately, we can see yoga as a path towards integration, where the body becomes integrated, in harmony with the mind, the spirit, and with the movement of Life itself. Courses of Sunyata Yoga incorporate a mix of traditional postures (asana), breathing exercises (pranayama), with explorations of yogic principals and perspectives.
