Background Durward Burrell:
He holds 5th Dan Aikikai and is the teacher of Conscious Yoga at Aikido Vevey, Switzerland. He has over 25 years of martial arts and yoga experience. Burrell Sensei began his Aikido career in 1999 in the uchideshi (apprentice to student) program in the United States under Patrick Cassidy Sensei (6th Dan, Aikido Montreux). His classes aim to help people awaken to greater perspectives.
Background Carolina van Haperen:
She also holds 5th Dan Aikikai, head instructor at Integral Aikido Amsterdam in The Netherlands. And she is a licensed Mindfulness & ACT trainer, and Psychosocial Therapist. You can read her Pillars of Aikido Practice through this link.
Durward and Carolina have known eachother since 2000, starting as uchideshis at Patrick Cassidy's dojo in Fresno, California. In 2004 till 2006 they supported together Cassidy's dojo in Montreux, Switzerland, and made a start with the dojo in Vevey. Carolina moved then back to Holland and Durward stayed in Switzerland to run his school and support the Aikido and Yoga community there. Carolina taught at the dojo of Lewis de Quiros for 2 years, and then started her own dojo in 2009.
Throughout the years they shared their black belt degree moments.
Both their dojos are member of the Evolutionary Aikido Community.
